El Caimān – Robusto
The latest addition to the Tres Hermanos range: the Caïman. Patrick reveals the story behind the name. He wanted to pay homage to Cuban cigars by drawing inspiration from the island’s nickname.
Why ‘El Caimán’?
Viewed on a map, its long, narrow outline is strikingly reminiscent of that of a crocodile or a caiman. A resemblance that has sometimes earned it the nicknames ‘El Caimán’ or ‘El Cocodrilo’. Let’s take a closer look at the cigar’s green band: in the centre, a golden silhouette of a crocodile subtly echoes the contours of the island. A detail rich in meaning, which elegantly recalls the Caïman’s Cuban inspiration.

Tasting menu
A dry, ribbed and perfectly taut cap with a medium draw.
When smoked cold, subtle notes of liquorice coat the palate. From the very first puffs, vanilla comes to the fore, evoking a delicious pipe tobacco, both sweet and spicy, with that enveloping sensation of delicately heated tobacco. Woody aromas then come to the fore, structuring the tasting experience and striking the perfect balance with the roundness of the vanilla notes.
The intensity builds gradually, both in terms of aroma and flavour. The Caimān gradually comes to life, gaining in intensity and asserting its character, releasing a dense and generous smoke. One expects a sharp attack, yet the Caimān settles down. The final third reveals an earthy nuance, very reminiscent of star anise, carried by a perfectly harmonious balance. The aromas blend together fluidly here, undulating like a caiman gliding through the river.
A cigar to be savoured with pleasure as an afternoon treat, with a fresh palate ready to take in three very different flavours in a single smoking session.

About Tres Hermanos
Having worked as a dentist, a winegrower and even a pilot, Patrick Assal has no time for the beaten track.
His quest for knowledge began when he was still a teenager. A lover of fine dining and good wine, he was keen to learn more and began growing his own vine with the aim of understanding how a piece of wood could produce the delicate nectar that flows into our glasses.
It was at the age of 24 that the pleasure of a fine cigar prompted him to learn more about this new product. It was then that he set himself a new goal… to create the cigar that suited him.
Initially produced for a select circle of friends, production has now expanded thanks to the opening of his own factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
