ADVentura The Royal Return King's Gold Toro

Opening a box of ADVentura Royal Return King's Gold is like something out of an Indiana Jones film. The lid proudly displays the ADVentura crest in antique gold. Inside this
case, we discover dark cigars with a simply magnificent broadleaf (USA) wrapper. It is rustic and highlights the embossed gold band.

The filler is a blend from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and the USA, wrapped in a San Andrés leaf. All these tobaccos have been aged for five years before being blended into this treasure, which is then left to rest for at least six more months before reaching us.

When tasted neat, the draw seems very easy. We recommend starting with a fairly small opening. A punch will be perfect for the start. The notes are sweet and promise a wonderful journey.

Tasting notes

Notes

The first few seconds deliver aromas of white pepper, which quickly fade to make way for a delicious praline flavour.

The second third presents a very different aromatic palette. The flavours focus on wood and almond. The aromas linger in the mouth and develop notes of bark.
Past the halfway point, the notes become smokier and reminiscent of barrel aromas.
The final third gains in power and intensity. By the end, you will feel satisfied. This is perfect timing, as it is time to enjoy the last rays of afternoon sunshine. The tasting took us just under two hours.
We note that the ash is quite crumbly and there is a slight burning defect, which can be easily corrected with a few flicks of the flame. The dense, creamy smoke completes the experience and adds to the pleasure. The draw is good and pleasant right up to the band, which we hasten to remove to prolong the adventure.

Pairing

The time has come to open a bottle of Zacapa XO rum, which will pair perfectly, adding its own richness and roundness.
