Oliva Serie V 135ème Anniversaire Edicion Real
The unique shape of this cigar allows the Sumatra wrapper (Madame Blue Smoke’s little guilty pleasure) to come into its own right from the start. As the wrapper accounts for a larger proportion of the tobacco during the first few puffs than later on, you can fully enjoy the spicy flavours and subtle sweetness of this perfectly aged tobacco.
The presentation is particularly elegant: a beautiful lacquered box, featuring a double base to hold a Boveda, and a lovely double ring to secure the cap, which is glossy and rich.

Tasting notes
When cold, the draw is light with just the right amount of resistance, and woody notes clearly dominate. It lights easily and immediately produces a substantial volume of grey, opaque smoke, accompanied by a very spicy initial flavour. The first third is dominated by woody notes, whilst the spices, which are pronounced at the start, gradually fade as the cigar becomes fuller-bodied.
The second third marks the heart of the tasting. The initial spicy notes give way to a pleasant white pepper flavour before evolving into a woody, vanilla-like profile that is rounder and more indulgent. As the tasting progresses, notes of nuts emerge, accompanied by a distinct smoky aroma on the finish.
The burn is exemplary, supported by a very light ash that is compact at the centre and fluffy on the outside, and holds up remarkably well. The finish remains controlled: the strength is moderate, with little increase in intensity. Bitterness lingers on the palate and the woody notes persist long after the cigar has been finished.
The wine offers a pleasant, well-structured tasting experience, underpinned by a lovely depth of oak and a generous smoky character.
Pairing
Enjoy with a white tea, which will subtly complement the nutty notes, and a fine chocolate to highlight the rich flavours that emerge midway through the tasting.
In music
We’ve put together something very special for the December tasting.
We invite you to enjoy a tasting of Oliva, accompanied by a piece of music carefully selected by Paul Montag, who previously curated the selection for the Toro module. This time, a composition by George Gershwin will enhance your tasting experience.
You can follow the tasting session hosted by Blue Smoke whilst listening to this piece, which has been chosen to accompany you throughout the experience.
