Marc Niehaus is undoubtedly Costa Rica’s most creative cigar maker! With the D8 range, produced in a multitude of variations and sizes, each as distinct as the next, we are now being offered a true classic: the legendary Chaman. This blend, first produced in the early 2000s, has been reimagined by Marc to ensure the longevity of this incredible cigar. Adorned with a gold band featuring the head of a tiger (Costa Rica’s national animal) and the colours of the national flag, this cigar looks absolutely stunning.

About Vegas de Santiago
It all begins in the fields of the Santiago de Puriscal region in Costa Rica. It is here that farmers have been growing the tobacco plants used to make Vegas de Santiago cigars for over 100 years.
The altitude (around 1,100 metres) and the mountainous climate of the region make the use of pesticides unnecessary, allowing work to continue according to centuries-old traditions inherited from the Huetar Indians, who offered tobacco as a sacrifice to the spirits and attributed therapeutic properties to it.
The very strict process of harvesting, selecting, drying and rolling each cigar takes around four years.
The majority of the leaves used in VdS cigars come from the factory’s own plantations. Other leaves, specially selected for certain cigars, may be added. These generally come from Nicaragua, Ecuador or the Caribbean.
