Let's go back 10 years for a bit of history… In 2013, while sitting in his chair watching aficionados in search of something new at the InterTabac trade show, Laurent noticed two bikers passing by. He then thought to himself that while the "typical enthusiast" had changed over the years, cigars had remained fairly similar, with a few exceptions. That's when he began to dream of his ideal cigar…

Not too big… a little bigger… not quite a toto, but not a robusto either… ideas come and go in Laurent's head until he decides on the format for his first module. It will be a rather unusual cepo measuring 58 by 14 cm long.

For the factory, it's a perfect fit. Since meeting Marc (Vegas de Santiago), the two friends have been inseparable.

To fill the body of his module, he opts for a skilful blend of tobaccos from Peru, the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. This base will be the foundation for the next modules from the fledgling brand.

The wrapper comes from Ecuador. It is oily, smooth and tightly rolled. Everything you could want in a cigar of this calibre.

Notes

The raw aromas evoke hazelnuts and wood. The start is smooth, and these notes accompany the beginning of the tasting before changing to a more spicy and earthy flavour. Black pepper is added to the mix shortly afterwards, bringing a beautiful complexity until the middle of the cigar.
The finish is much more playful, with the opening of a new aromatic palette featuring sweet marzipan flavours.

About Cigare Skull 77

It was in Dortmund that the idea for Cigare 77 first took shape in Laurent Taha’s imaginative mind. During a chance encounter with two bikers at the Vegas de Santiago stand, a realisation struck him: whilst cigars have certainly become more mainstream in recent years, with their target audience growing and diversifying… the product itself hasn’t changed much. Still as classic and understated in its presentation.

Bingo! Laurent knows what’s missing from the market. A cigar that breaks the rules of propriety. A good cigar with a rocker look that appeals to this less posh clientele.
