Joya de Nicaragua Black Nocturno

Rich, well-balanced flavours. Its fatty cap offers aromas of chocolate and warm earth, while the tripe brings a peppery start and woody scents.

The Joya de Nicaragua Black Nocturno offers a rich and profound tasting experience. With its dark, slightly ribbed Mexican wrapper with chocolate highlights and its black and midnight-blue ring, it invites us on an intense sensory journey.

Produced from Nicaraguan tobacco grown in their own fields, then aged and rolled in one of the country's oldest factories, the tripe reflects the passion and quality of the work produced by everyone involved. "From seed to smoke!

Tasting note

Notes

The fat cape offers us its aromas of chocolate and warm earth. For this module, choose a straight cut. Uncooked, the draught is rather tight, but delivers notes similar to those of the cape.

As soon as it is lit, a touch of black pepper accompanies the woody scents and immediately gives an interesting depth to the tasting.

At the end of the first third, the pepper notes fade and give way once again to the initial woody aromas. These aromas evolve relatively little until the finish. At this point, the wine takes on a slightly softer hue, with notes of roasted nuts and nougat.

Despite its rather narrow format, the Nicaragua Black Noturno Joya produced a generous smoke during our 45-minute experience, highlighting its rich, balanced flavours. The burn is excellent and uniform, with a slightly fluffy white ash that holds remarkably well.

Pairing

As an aperitif, a rather light red humagne will go well with this cigar. The aromas of burnt wood and pepper present in this type of grape will echo the cigar.

In the afternoon, a double espresso will be the ideal companion.

The cigar anecdote

Cigars numb grief and fill lonely hours with a million pleasant things. George Sand

Joya de Nicaragua

Founded in 1968 by Simón Camacho and Juan Francisco Bermejo, the factory was originally called the Nicaragua Cigar Company. One of the very first companies to process tobacco, it withstood the Sandinista revolution and the civil war, which set fire to it and dropped bombs on its roof.

Once the revolution was over and reconstruction completed, the company returned to private hands and a new era began.

Under the influence of Dr. Cuenca (and now his son), the company grew from strength to strength and gained its current reputation by supplying a wide range of hand-rolled cigars to delight even the most seasoned cigar aficionados.
