ADVentura The Royal Return King's Gold Toro
A journey of flavours that will make you feel like a 15th-century adventurer setting out to conquer the new world. Let yourself be carried away by the aromatic power of this remarkably evolved module.
Opening a box of ADVentura Royal Return King's Gold is like watching an Indiana Jones film. The lid proudly displays the aged gold ADVentura coat of arms.
Inside, we discover dark cigars and their broadleaf (USA) wrapper is simply magnificent. It's rustic and highlights the raised gold ring.
The tripe is a blend of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and the USA, wrapped in San Andrès leaf. All these tobaccos have been matured for 5 years before being blended into this treasure, which will then have rested for at least another 6 months before reaching us.
Raw, the print looks very easy. We recommend starting with a fairly small opening. A punch will be perfect to start with. The notes are soft and herald a fine journey.
Tasting note
Notes
The first few seconds release aromas of white pepper, which quickly fade to give way to a gourmet praline flavour.
The second third has a very different aromatic palette. The flavours are woody and almondy. The aromas linger on the palate and develop notes of bark.
After half the cigar, the notes are smokier, reminiscent of barrel aromas.
The final third gains in power and intensity. By the end, you'll have had your fill. And just as well, it's time to enjoy the last rays of sunshine of the afternoon. The tasting will have kept us busy for just under 2 hours.
The ash is fairly crumbly, and there is a slight combustion defect that can be easily corrected with a few strokes of the flame. The dense, creamy smoke completes the experience and adds to the pleasure. The draw is good and pleasant, right up to the ring, which you'll be quick to remove to prolong the adventure.
Pairing
The time has come to uncork a Zacapa XO rum, which will be a perfect match, bringing its own richness and roundness.
