We’re really keen on this sort of cigar. Simple and unpretentious, with a rustic, uneven wrapper that seems to tease us a little: we’re embarking on an experience that truly captures the spirit of Jonathan Drew. We also love the idea of this ‘reversed’ band, positioned solely on the foot of the cigar. Once lit, we can simply enjoy the product without flaunting the brand. In short, it’s an invitation to return to the fundamentals of cigar appreciation without any fuss.

Featuring a distinctive pigtail head, it is crafted from a blend of three varieties of Nicaraguan tobacco and a Honduran wrapper. The Brazilian Mata Fina binder showcases the true star of this cigar: a rich and generously oily Connecticut Broadleaf Oscuro wrapper. This dark wrapper reveals complex and powerful flavours, worthy of the prestigious Liga Privada Unico Serie cigars, with which the Papas Bravas can easily be compared.

The cape is magnificent. It’s not often that you see irregular Connecticut capes. Here, it is delicately marbled and reveals the darker under-cape.

Here we go – an abundance of liquorice aromas, with a subtle woody note on the finish. The flavour profile builds on this, with a fairly subtle smokiness. The ash holds up well, and we can appreciate the tiny specks that appear on each streak.
