My Father Cigars La Antiguedad
La Antiguedad is a tribute to the past, both in its name and its aesthetics. Launched in 2014 by My Father Cigars, it embodies the craftsmanship of the Garcia family, based in EstelĂ (Nicaragua), and renowned for their powerful and well-constructed cigars.
This blend features an aged Habano Ecuador wrapper, a binder and filler from the family plantations in Nicaragua. The result: a powerful, complex, and controlled cigar that offers a true sensory journey.
The cigar is superb. A milk chocolate brown wrapper, silky to the touch, well rolled, with no soft spots. The band is a work of art in itself: golden details, a countryside fresco, flowers, and a red ribbon at the foot. When unlit, it emits powerful animal notes. The draw is slightly tight, promising a controlled burn.
Tasting Notes
Lighting is easy and even. The first puffs are very powerful, almost brutal, but the cigar quickly balances out. The smoke is light, probably influenced by being outdoors.
Wood clearly dominates this early tasting phase. The animal notes perceived when unlit disappear quickly. The burn is even, the ash holds well, light gray with some dark spots. In the first third, there is little evolution but a nice consistency.
Although retro-olfaction is a bit difficult due to the strength, it reveals an interesting nutty note, hinting at some aromatic complexity in the background.
The flavor profile evolves with the arrival of leather aromas, followed by a touch of hazelnut. The wood remains present, a solid thread throughout the tasting. The strength, still there, does not weaken. The burn remains even despite a slight wind requiring some adjustments. The ash falls about 1 cm from the band — a good performance.
As the tasting progresses, the strength softens slightly, giving way to a nice roundness. The wood notes take over again, this time accompanied by a subtle almond touch. A pleasant, smoother finish.
La Antiguedad is a generous, intense, and elegant cigar. It requires some experience to be fully appreciated, but it rewards the attentive palate with its well-marked transitions and good consistency. Best enjoyed leisurely, in good weather.
Pairing
Simply accompanied by lemon-flavored sparkling water, this cigar stands on its own. If you choose another drink, we recommend something fairly light so as not to overwhelm you at the start. A low-alcohol blonde beer, for example.

The Cigar Anecdote
Its colorful band is a tribute to the farming world without whom no cigar would come to life.
