MexiGars Habano House 1910

Another UFO in the world of cigars from the CASA 1910 brand. You know how much we love this brand's cigars, which brilliantly blend Mexican tobaccos to give them their unique aromas. We presented this brand at the "Viva Mexico" event, and Madame Blue Smoke fell in love with the Cavalry Edition Lucero, featured in last winter's selection.

Discovered at Intertabac this year, it was Joao Maierhofer, brand ambassador, who enthusiastically introduced us to this beautiful cigar.

The ring is decorated with a volcano, representing the two peaks of the Mexican volcanic chain that includes Santa Marta and San Martín Tuxtla. Both volcanoes rise to over 1,700 metres. San Martín Tuxtla is the only recently active volcano in the belt, having erupted in 1664 and again in May 1793.

First important detail to note: the cigar band is… upside down. No, the rollers hadn't been drinking too much tequila when they put the band on. You'll notice a volcano on it, and the cigar ash forms as if the volcano were erupting. It's an invitation to a "long ash" competition, or who can make the highest volcano!

Tasting notes

Tasting notes

A magnificent attack with woody and earthy notes that accompany us throughout the tasting. In the second third, notes of sandalwood and incense reveal themselves. This cigar is strangely reminiscent of Mexican puros from the same brand, the Revolutionary Edition line, and in particular the "Tierra Blanca". A hint of acidity "tightens" the cigar in the final third, giving it a livelier edge.

A rich taste, dense white smoke and an airy draw that borders on perfection. The only slight drawback is that the ash is quite crumbly, which will be a real challenge for the "long ash competition".

Pairing

We enjoyed it with a chilled apple juice from Collines de Daval, but other fruit juices with a hint of acidity would work just as well. The fresh, slightly tart flavour of the apple juice perfectly counterbalances the earthy, woody notes of the cigar. Joao highly recommended pairing it with tequila and spicy Mexican cuisine. Give it a try!
