IZ Box pressed – Izambar

This is the latest addition to the Izambar brand, in a format much appreciated by Blue smokers: a box-pressed toro.

Izambar's "IZ" range has its origins in the prestigious Matjeva finca, located in the enchanting heart of Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley. This exceptional terroir, enriched by the use of "criollo" seeds from Cuba, embodies a rich and authentic heritage. The sandy soils of this region nurture the tobacco plants, providing them with an environment conducive to their full development.

This tobacco blends perfectly with leaves from Condega and Ometepe Island. The volcanic leaf from Ometepe, used as Seco, adds a touch of punch to this blend without masking the dominant aromatic qualities of Jalapa. Condega, meanwhile, creates a perfect balance between the different leaves, producing a refined symphony.

Tasting notes

This cigar is very pleasant to hold, with its box-pressed format and impeccable finish. It has a sharp start with spicy, woody and powerful aromas. The cigar softens around the halfway point, giving more chocolatey notes. Surprisingly, given the length of the format, it will take you an hour to smoke. This is because it has a smooth and pleasant draw. The ash is compact and the smoke is a beautiful white.

Pairing

A well-grilled chicken with a few spices (paprika, pepper and a hint of curry) will accompany this superb box-pressed cigar perfectly. If you opt for a pairing based on the principle of "like goes with like", small delicacies served with coffee will delight even the most discerning palates.
