Blanco Liga Exclusiva de Familia Broadleaf Maduro Toro

César and David Blanco have always had their personal preferences when it comes to the types of cigars they like to blend and smoke. César prefers the richness and creamy sweetness of Connecticut Shade, while David is drawn to the more robust and intense profile of the Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro. Proudly sporting a Pennsylvania wrapper, our choice fell on the shimmering-toned toro, David’s preference.

Tasting Notes

The initial aromas are rich. Even when dry, a earthy and animal profile was noted, and upon lighting, a vegetal side unfolds. Unsurprisingly given the size, this is a cigar that will require a good hour and a half of tasting.

The diversity of spices from the Nicaraguan terroir blends with the particular, sweet, and earthy notes of the American wrapper.

This cigar appeals to us with its “rustic” notes—earthy, animal, and woody. It could easily be compared to a Tessin cabernet franc or merlot, with a frank, tannic, and almost slightly rough attack. On the palate, there is a raw sensation, sometimes rough, but sincere and full of character.

It stands out with mineral notes of volcanic origin, which give it a unique character and beautiful complexity, with a slight typical smoky touch. Do not venture to use a punch cut, which might impart bitterness.

The ash is particularly remarkable, beautifully white, and the smoke generous. The tasting continues smoothly and the earthy side will be balanced by a nice sweetness.

A great discovery of this brand and a good hour and a half of pleasure for fans of large formats.
