AVO Expresivo Robusto

AVO. Burn Brighter

With this new range, AVO is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founder, Avo Uvezian, and unveiling ‘Burn Brighter’, a new, modern brand identity that celebrates inspiration, individuality and the joy of sharing moments of enjoyment. This is the brand’s first range produced in Honduras, offering a fuller-bodied flavour profile.

The blend draws on Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos, wrapped in an Ecuadorian wrapper of fine quality. The result is rich, full-bodied and very well-balanced. It opens with earthy notes, with dark chocolate and toasted nuts in the background, before leather takes over, softened by a creamy texture and hints of wood. The finish features spices, dried fruit and a hint of florals.

We tried the Robusto size (to start with), and this AVO certainly packs a punch and has plenty of character.

Tasting menu

This cigar reveals an intensely woody aromatic profile. This underlying theme runs through the tasting experience from start to finish. From the very first puffs, notes of sandalwood emerge with warmth and elegance. These are quickly joined by enveloping and refined leathery aromas, as well as a certain chocolatey sweetness that lend the cigar a lovely depth of character.

As the tasting progresses, the woody nuances intensify and blend with increasingly pronounced earthy notes. The overall profile gradually evolves towards hints of cedar wood, resulting in a harmonious, lingering and particularly well-balanced finish.

Agreement

For us, this cigar is ‘gourmet’. We thoroughly enjoyed savouring it alongside sushi delicately smoked using the wrapper of the cigar itself. It also pairs wonderfully with a good cut of meat (well grilled) and peaty spirits.
