Tasting note
Raw, the light reveals fine chocolate notes, quickly joined by a very toasty, woody register, with a dominant sandalwood note. The chocolate is still very present on the first whiffs, providing a powerful, frank but perfectly controlled attack.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully rounded, with the flavours melting together harmoniously. It has a buttery, unctuous, almost gourmand quality, reminiscent of brown butter, bringing depth and softness to the whole.
The ash is slightly crumbly, but does not affect the taste. The smoke is full-bodied, dense and very pleasant, coating the palate well.
In the final third, the tasting becomes much more powerful. The aromas become very markedly toasty, with clear notes of burnt wood, resulting in an intense, drier and resolutely expressive finish.
The Robusto box press format is particularly successful. The dark, tight wrapper, with its visible veins, announces a cigar with character. The draw is very pleasant, slightly aerated, allowing the smoke to develop nicely and the aromas to come through clearly.
