Perdomo Nicaragua BBA Sun Grown
Another gentle interlude for this Perdomo Bourbon Barrel Aged (BBA). After tasting the Connecticut and Sun Grown versions, our choice fell on the Sun Grown, whose maturation clearly gives it a smoother, creamier flavour.
For this Puro Nicaragua, the cape has been aged for at least six years, then matured for a further 14 months in Bourbon casks, giving it an exceptional roundness.

Tasting note
The BBA has a Sun-grown Nicaragua cape, which is relatively smooth despite the presence of a few visible veins. It is pleasant to the touch, and the construction seems meticulous. Raw, the cigar gives off roasted notes, dominated by chocolate aromas and a particularly interesting touch of spice.
From the moment it is lit, the draw is very airy and smooth. The cigar has a spicy attack, marked by animal notes and a predominance of leather. On lighting, in contrast to the raw aromas, the roasted and chocolate notes fade away, giving way to a more woody and leathery register, offering a robust and distinctive start. We won't dwell too much on the ignition, which is not very representative of the tasting as a whole.
In the first third, the aromas evolve towards a smooth profile, with a woody base and hints of black pepper. The cigar remains moderate in strength, offering a pleasant but characterful experience. On the palate, the smoke is discreet, providing a light sensation, but the real surprise is the appearance of notes of toast, which combine wonderfully with fresh apple juice, creating a Sunday morning brunch atmosphere.
As the second third progresses, the cigar becomes increasingly rounded and balanced. The spices fade, and the cigar becomes really smooth and pleasant, with a persistent dominant flavour of warm toast and buttery notes. This gourmet profile is amplified by the thick texture of the smoke, which remains light but more enveloping. The finish is excellent, with lingering aromas of toast, giving a sensation of sweetness and comfort. The smoke, though dense, remains discreet, and the ash has a good hold, a sign of the solidity of the construction.
This Perdomo is a particularly interesting cigar, which evolves with subtlety and complexity. It begins with a spicy attack and animal notes, then gradually develops into a round, balanced experience, dominated by aromas of toast and leather. Its long, buttery finish makes it pleasant to smoke over a long period, while its strength remains moderate throughout. This cigar is particularly appreciated for its smoothness and its ability to offer a harmonious tasting experience.
Pairing
Choose a fresh, non-carbonated apple juice. The acidity and freshness will balance this Perdomo perfectly.
Notes
