My Father Cigars La Antiguedad
La Antiguedad is a homage to the pasta cigar with a name and an aesthetic all of its own. Launched in 2014 by My Father Cigars, it embodies the expertise of the Garcia family, based in Estelí (Nicaragua) and famous for its cigars powerful and well constructed.
This blend features an aged Habano Ecuador wrapper, a binder and tripe from the family plantations in Nicaragua. The result is a powerful, complex and masterful cigar that offers a true sensory journey.
The cigar is superb. A milk chocolate brown wrapper, silky The ring is a work of art in itself. The ring is a work of art in itself, with gold details, a country fresco, flowers and a red ribbon at the foot. Raw, it gives off notes of powerful animals. The draught is slightly tight, which promises controlled combustion.
Tasting note
Lighting up is easy and even. The first puffs are very powerfulThe flavours are almost brutal, but the cigar soon becomes balanced. The smoke is lightprobably influenced by being outdoors.
Le wood clearly dominates this early tasting. The raw animal notes disappear quickly. Combustion is regularThe ash holds well, light grey with a few dark spots. In the first third, there was little change, but the wine held up well.
Although the retro-olfaction is a little difficult because of the power, it reveals a nutty note Interesting, with a hint of aromatic complexity in the background.
The palette is evolving with the arrival ofleather aromasfollowed by a hint of hazelnut. The wood remains present, a solid thread running through the tasting. The power, still there, does not weaken. The combustion remains regular despite a light breeze which requires a few corrections. The ash falls to within 1 cm of the ring - a fine performance.
As the tasting progresses, the power softens slightlygiving way to a beautiful roundness. The notes of wood back on topaccompanied this time by a subtle hint of almond. A pleasant, softer finish.
La Antiguedad is a cigar generous, intense and elegant. It needs a little experience to be appreciated at its true worth, but it knows how to reward the attentive palate with its well-marked transitions and good staying power. To be enjoyed at leisure, in fine weather.
Pairing
Accompanied simply by a sparkling water with lemon, this cigar is self-sufficient. If you opt for another beverage, we recommend something light enough not to overwhelm you at the start. A low-alcohol lager, for example.
