"IZ" Box pressed - Izambar
This is the latest addition to the Izambar brand, in a format so popular with blue smokers: a pressed toro box.
Izambar's 'IZ' range has its origins in the prestigious Matjeva finca, located in the enchanting heart of Nicaragua's Jalapa Valley. This exceptional terroir, enriched by the use of 'criollo' seeds from Cuba, embodies a rich and authentic heritage. The sandy soils of this region nurture the tobacco plants, providing them with an environment in which they can flourish.
This tobacco blends perfectly with the leaves from Condega and the island of Ometepe. The volcanic leaf from Ometepe, used as Seco, adds a touch of punch to this liga without masking the dominant aromatic values of Jalapa. For its part, Condega creates a perfect balance between the different leaves, producing a refined symphony.
Tasting note
This cigar is very pleasant to hold, with its pressed box format and impeccable finish. The initial taste is spicy, with spicy, woody and powerful aromas. The cigar mellows out about halfway through, giving more chocolaty notes. Surprisingly, given the length of the format, it will take you an hour to savour this cigar. The draw is smooth and pleasant. The ash is compact and the smoke beautiful white.
Pairing
A well grilled chicken with a few spices (paprika, pepper and a touch of curry) will go well with this superb box-pressed dish. If you opt for a 'birds of a feather' type of pairing, some small mignardises at coffee time will delight even the most demanding palates.
