Cavalier Genève Black II Lancero
Tasting an Elegant and Powerful Cigar
Tasting a cigar can be a rich and subtle experience, especially when it strikes the perfect balance between power and aromatic finesse. Today, we have the opportunity to savour an exceptional cigar, dressed in a San Andrés wrapper from Mexico, with a Habano binder and a Nicaraguan filler. This 17.7 cm module with a cepo of 38 impressed us with its elegance and character.
Tasting note
From the very first puff, the strength of the cigar is apparent, with dominant spicy notes mingling with a subtle sweetness that balances the whole. The smoke is fine, with a pleasant texture and aromas of undergrowth, hay and leather that emerge throughout the first third. It is easy to light, burns evenly and draws perfectly. The ash is compact and falls away in a lump, giving way under its own weight.
The second third brings an interesting change, with the appearance of chocolate notes replacing those of wood, while retaining a spicy base. The power remains, but the smoke becomes fuller and smoother, adding a very appreciable touch of creaminess. The aromatic profile develops harmoniously. All the flavours are gradually revealed, while retaining a pleasant coherence.
In the final third, the cigar heats up slightly as it approaches the gold leaf on the wrapper, and a refreshing peppermint sensation emerges. The aromas of nuts and nougat add a new dimension, giving a lingering, refined finish.
Its impeccable construction, easy draw and gradual evolution make it an ideal choice for cigar lovers looking for a powerful yet well-balanced cigar. It's a wonderful discovery for those moments of peaceful tasting.
Pairing
To accompany this lancero, we recommend a sweet rum or calva, which will bring out the strength of the cigar by bathing it in a little sweetness.
