E.P. Carrillo Pledge Apogee
With its dark, greasy Connecticut wrapper, this cigar looks great. Behind its gold ribbon and its beautiful blue and gold rings (yes, the flirt has two), we can already imagine the audacity of this cigar.
As soon as it comes out of its box, we examine it closely and smell it. The first hints of chocolate emerge, and we can already imagine it paired with a good square of chocolate and a strong cup of coffee. Sweet maple aromas can also be detected.
It's time to take off the little ribbon and start tasting. On lighting, a few notes of liquorice and oak mingle and add a certain complexity to this cigar.
As you savour, the aromas evolve, giving way to walnuts and a light scent of cinnamon. You could almost guess that it was a pie just out of the oven...
The finish becomes progressively spicier, with flavours of white pepper. The chocolate on the first nose also comes back more strongly. Aromas of mocha and warm earth are also added.
It has a long finish and well-balanced aromas. A vitola that certainly lives up to its name.
Tasting note
Notes
The first nose is sweet and chocolatey, which quickly gives way to hints of maple and a slight whiff of cinnamon. The slightly peppery finish is overtaken by the raw dark chocolate aromas.
A festival of balanced flavours.
Pairing
A few squares of dark chocolate and a strong cup of coffee will go wonderfully with the complex aromas of this pledge.
