Tasting note
Raw, the aromas are subtle, with a discreet woody note. On lighting, the draw is easy, offering initial woody notes accompanied by a touch of sweet spice, notably white pepper. The smoke is light and pleasant.
Combustion is immediately homogeneous and the draw is excellent. A clean cut is recommended to fully release the cigar's aromas.
Looking at the ring, we notice two dates in Roman numerals: 'MDCCCLXXV' (1875), the year Julius Caesar Newman was born, and 'MMX' (2010), the year this line was launched to celebrate the company's 115ᵉ anniversary. In addition, three small gold coins adorn each side of the portrait of Caesar on the ring, symbolising the wealth and prestige associated with the Roman emperor.
With the arrival of the second third, a gentle bitterness appears, bringing a pleasant roundness to the tasting. The spices become slightly more present, enriching the aromatic profile. The volume of smoke intensifies, giving a denser sensation on the palate.
Then, because of the Perfecto format, the final third arrives quickly, with increased warmth. The almond notes intensify, while the spices fade, giving way to flavours of nougat against a background of delicate bitterness.
After around 45 minutes, the tasting ends on a soft, gourmet finish, with lingering notes of almond and nougat, balanced by a slight bitterness.
The Julius Caesar Perfecto offers an evolving and refined experience, ideal for a morning tasting.
Pairing
With your morning coffee and a square of dark chocolate with almonds, or if you enjoy it later with a calva or a poiré, which will support its nougaty and sweet side.
