Davidoff Geneva Winston Churchill
Behind the homage, the Winston Churchill line responds to a clear logic: to offer a cigar that speaks as much to regular cigar lovers as to those looking for a register without excess. The name harks back to a time when the cigar was a marker of conversation and tempo - a companion more than a demonstrator.
The cape comes in a brown tanned leather hue with a neat appearance and a regular construction to the eye.
The cold nose is straightforward: woody, with a dry hay flavour that evokes a rather light and accessible palette.
The draw is smooth, which means that the smoke is easy to smoke and the aroma develops smoothly from the moment it is lit.
Tasting note
The cigar is predominantly cedar, with discreet nutmeg and a hint of walnut (dried fruit) adding a pleasant relief. The overall impression is balanced, without aggressiveness.
The smoke is immediately full and creamy. It flies away in broad volutes and delights us with the scent of white pepper.
As for the ash, it is slightly crumbly: it is better to deposit it regularly rather than letting it spread out too much.
Once the tasting is well underway, the evolution remains measured but clear: the notes move towards toasty tones, then towards roasted coffee.
In retro-olfaction, we find a more structured expression, with leather and white pepper, in a rather fine register that still tickles the nose a little.
The dominant woodiness is maintained in the final third, with a strength that remains light to medium, as at the start of the tasting. There is little or no bitterness, which contributes to an overall very pleasant finish.
Once past the ring, the temperature rises slightly: by slowing the pace, it's easier to retain the roundness of the smoke.
Pairing
The choice of a light tea and fruit salad works well with this profile. The tea accompanies the woody, spicy dimension, while the fruit underlines the impression of sweetness.
