Vegas de Santiago D8 Toro Box Pressed - Blue Smoke Spirit - Cigar subscriptions and gifts - delivery in Switzerland

Vegas de Santiago D8 Toro Box Pressed

Mademoiselle Blue Smoke's favourite cigar. Indulgence is the key word for this exceptional cigar, and its boxed pressed format makes it particularly seductive.

From time to time, cigars go astray...

Initially intended for the German market, this 'box pressed' from Vegas de Santiago has never been marketed in Switzerland.

With a limited production of just a few dozen cabinets, a pleasant, gourmet cigar and a perfect finish... this vitola was bound to end up in one of our selections.

Tasting note

Notes

Ecuadorian cape, tobacco from Costa Rica and Nicaragua make up a blend that is as surprising as it is disconcerting. While the D8 range is distinguished by its notes of beans and nuts, this one offers more pastry and gourmet flavours.

The flavours on the palate are pleasant from the start and will evolve very slightly over the course of the smoke. Smoke in the morning with a long coffee and a croissant on the terrace.
If you're not a morning person, it's a sublime experience too, accompanied by a rather chocolaty stout beer.

The cigar anecdote

The special shape of the box pressed gives the cigar an exceptionally airy draw. The smoke cools down more quickly than in a round cigar and therefore reaches an ideal temperature for tasting when it reaches the mouth. Initially designed to optimise storage space, cigar enthusiasts quickly realised the benefits of this very special shape.

Vegas de Santiago

It all begins in the fields of the Santiago de Puriscal region of Costa Rica. This is where farmers have been growing the tobacco plants used to make Vegas de Santiago cigars for over 100 years.

The altitude (around 1,100m) and mountainous climate of the region make the use of pesticides unnecessary, which means that we can continue to work according to age-old traditions inherited from the Huetar Indians, who gave tobacco as an offering to the spirits and attributed therapeutic virtues to it.

The very strict process of harvesting, selecting, drying and rolling each cigar takes around four years.

Most of the leaves used in VdS cigars come from the factory's own plantations. Other leaves specially selected for certain cigars may be added. These generally come from Nicaragua, Ecuador or the Caribbean.
