CAD Amazon Basin Toro

Let's set off together to discover the CAO Amazon Basin, a unique creation. Produced in Nicaragua, this cigar is distinguished by the use of a rare tobacco, Bragança, grown organically in the Amazon rainforest and harvested only once every three years. It is blended with tobaccos from four other countries: a wrapper from Ecuador, and leaves from Nicaragua, Colombia and the Dominican Republic for the filler.

The cape is a beautiful chocolate brown, with slight ribbing and a texture similar to tanned leather, set with a braided tobacco leaf ring. The construction is impeccable, with an even fill and reassuring firmness. Before lighting, the cold aromas reveal hints of leather, while the draught, although a little tight, announces herbaceous scents.

Because of the density of the tobacco, a torch is needed to light the cigar. Once lit, the cigar burns evenly. The first puffs offer earthy aromas and a slight cocoa bitterness. The draw is easier than expected, adding to the pleasure of the tasting experience. As the first third progresses, leather aromas dominate, accompanied by hints of spice towards the end. In retro-olfaction, nutty notes emerge, adding an extra dimension to the experience.

The arrival of the second third marks an increase in power. The woody aromas complement the leathery flavours already present. The cigar's strength makes it more suitable for enjoying after a meal, and it is recommended for experienced smokers. The aftertaste retains notes of nuts. The draw and burn remain constant, with the combustion regulating itself.

As it approaches the braided ring, the aromas become slightly creamy while maintaining a nice power. Woody, leathery and earthy flavours persist, with a hint of liquorice emerging in the second third. The cigar leaves a pleasant leather aftertaste on the palate.

The CAO Amazon Basin Toro offers a fascinating tasting experience, with a subtle evolution of aromas and well-balanced power. The smoke is full and generous, and the cigar reveals woody, leathery, earthy and liquorice notes throughout. This cigar is best enjoyed after a good meal, ideal for connoisseurs looking for a unique experience.

The cigar anecdote

The Bragança tobacco used for the filler undergoes a unique six-month ageing process in the form of 'carrots' to ferment, unlike traditional methods where the leaves are dried flat. This process contributes to the complexity and richness of the cigar's aromas.
