Avo
Avo Uvezian was born in Beirut in the 1920s to music-loving parents, and began his musical career at an early age. He travelled to New York to play in various bands, where he studied piano and musical composition.
It was in 1983, while on a trip to Switzerland for his daughter's christening, that Avo tasted a Cuban cigar to end his meal. Dismayed by the price, his friends convinced him that he should produce his own cigars.
Avo then travelled to the Dominican Republic in search of a suitable factory. After 2 years, he met Hendrik Kelner and after tasting a few samples, their collaboration could finally begin.
Almost 10 years later, Davidoff acquired the distribution rights to the brand.
