Alec Bradley Magic Toast Chunk

Some cigars tell you a story right from the start. Alec Bradley's Magic Toast Chunk, with its slightly enigmatic name, is clearly one of them.

Even before you turn it on, it catches your eye: a chocolate-brown cape spotted with black, looking almost wild. You look at it, turn it between your fingers, and already something is happening. The ring itself is intriguing: a dial, a hand with an eye, two crossed keys, all set against a starry sky and flanked by a stylised sun on either side. Mystical imagery, like an invitation to a sensory ritual.

Tasting

The cold draw reveals strong, comforting chocolate notes, enriched by a well-placed touch of spice.

From the very first whiff, the spices take over. But they don't come alone: chocolate and leather are also very present, bringing a roundness that balances the attack. The finish is supple, with just the right amount of restraint to allow you to enjoy it without forcing yourself.

When the second third arrives, the cigar calms down a little and becomes rounder. Hints of sandalwood appear, softening the smoke and giving it a real sweetness. It's fluid, pleasant and seamless.

Just when you think Magic Toast is going to stay put, comfortable in its woody surroundings, it surprises you one last time. The pepper returns, more discreet but very present, accompanied by a note of bitter almond. A fine way to finish: relief without violence, complexity without brutality.

No quirks when it comes to combustion: good and uniform, well-formed ash, no retouching necessary. You just let it burn. The draught remains pleasant right to the end, constant and balanced.

All in all, it's a great time. There's no sudden build-up of power, just a controlled progression full of nuances. A beautiful spicy smoke, an intriguing ring, and a friendly format that allows the aromas to be released perfectly.

The cigar anecdote

"Magic Toast has a really interesting story. We grabbed a bottle of whisky with my partners and I proposed a toast to our future. That's how I got 'Magic Toast'. Alan Rubin, owner of Alec Bradley
