La Galera 1936 Box Pressed
A tribute to the La Palma tobacco factory, founded in 1936, this range is an ode to the ancestral know-how of the Dominican Republic. A love of the land and a respect for tradition that, 90 years after the factory opened, continues to delight the most demanding afficionados.
Tasting note
The ignition is intense. The first puffs reveal a complex blend of wood and spice, enhanced by a light creaminess. The notes are long-lasting and pleasant on the palate, with a slightly chocolaty aftertaste.
The print is promising, as is often the case with box presses. Here, in Churchill format, we find an ideal cepo of 50, allowing a good volume of creamy smoke to pass through. The burn is perfect and a very compact ash forms at the foot of the cigar.
As our tasting progresses, notes of nuts add a new dimension to the profile of our cigar. The closer we get to the final third, the more the undergrowth aromas make themselves felt.
A colourful tasting experience that's sure to keep you entertained.
