Another UFO in the world of cigars from CASA 1910. You know how much we love this brand's cigars, which use Mexican tobaccos with brio to give them such distinctive aromas. We presented this brand at the "Viva Mexico and Mrs Blue Smoke had fallen in love with the Cavalry Edition Luceropresented in last winter's selection.

Discovered at Intertabac this year, Joao Maierhofer, the brand's ambassador, gave us a passionate presentation of this fine cigar.

The ring is decorated with a volcano, representing the two peaks of the Mexican chain of volcanoes that includes Santa Marta and San Martín Tuxtla. These two volcanoes both rise to over 1,700 metres. San Martín Tuxtla is the only recently active volcano in the belt, having erupted in 1664 and again in May 1793.

First important detail: the cigar band is... upside down. No, the rollers didn't overdo it on the tequila when they put the band on. You'll notice a volcano on it, and the ash from the cigar forms as if the volcano were erupting. It's an invitation to a 'long ash' competition, to see who can make the highest volcano!

Tasting note

Tasting note

A magnificent attack with woody, earthy notes that will accompany us throughout the tasting. In the second third, notes of sandalwood and incense emerge. This cigar is strangely reminiscent of the Mexican puros from the same brand, the Revolutionary Edition line, and in particular the 'Tierra Blanca'. A touch of acidity 'tightens' the cigar in the final third, giving it a livelier edge.

A rich taste, dense white smoke and an airy draw that verges on perfection. The only downside is that the ash is quite crumbly, which will be a real challenge for the long ash competition.

Pairing

We enjoyed it with a very fresh apple juice from Les Collines de Daval, but other fruit juices with a hint of acidity would work just as well. It's the fresh, slightly acidic side of the apple juice that perfectly counterbalances the earthy, woody notes of the cigar. Joao highly recommended it with tequila and spicy Mexican food. A must try!
