Escobar Maduro Corona

The Corona is the slimmest size in the Escobar Maduro range, rolled by AJ Fernandez in Nicaragua: 12.7 cm with a 42 ring gauge. A dark, oily San Andrés wrapper from Mexico envelops a 100 per cent Nicaraguan binder and filler.

This is the brand’s full-bodied offering. The maduro wrapper brings earthiness and a natural sweetness, whilst the Nicaraguan tobacco adds notes of dark chocolate, espresso and black pepper; as the smoke develops, hints of leather, dried fruit and a touch of spice emerge. The slim ring gauge packs all this into an intense half-hour, perfect for those who enjoy a strong smoke without spending the whole evening on it.

Pairing

A strong espresso follows the chocolate and coffee notes of the wrapper. Paired with an aged rum, the sweetness of the maduro comes to the fore and the peppery finish becomes more rounded.
