Undercrown 10 Robusto

In 2021, Drew Estate celebrated the tenth anniversary of Undercrown, the range created on the shop floor of La Gran Fabrica by its torcedores. To mark the occasion, the company launched the Undercrown 10, a premium version crafted from aged, hand-selected tobaccos.

The dark, silky wrapper comes from San Andrés in Mexico; the binder is a Broadleaf from the Connecticut Valley; and the fillers are a blend of rare Nicaraguan tobaccos. A rich and complex blend, ranging from medium-bodied to full-bodied.

On the palate, the first impression is of Mexican hot chocolate – naturally sweet, with a hint of black pepper. This is followed by raisins and sun-dried cherries, then espresso, wood and earth.

The Robusto (12.7 cm, ring gauge 50) packs all of this into around three-quarters of an hour. ‘A Decade of Dedication’, reads the band: it certainly lives up to its promise.

About Drew Estate

The story of Jonathan Drew and Marvin Samel begins at secondary school. These two New York ‘frat bros’, who are passionate about Nicaragua and fine cigars, began their adventure in the cigar world by running a small kiosk in town.

Two years later, Jonathan moved to Estelí with just a few dollars in his pocket and a smattering of Spanish. He hired a few torcedors to roll the first cigars. Meanwhile, Samel continued to run the New York shop and borrowed money from anyone willing to believe in them.

It was a long and winding road until the opening in 2007 of La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate, rolling over 90,000 cigars every day.
