Valentino Siesto Nero Black Robusto

The Valentino Siesto Nero Black is a decidedly premium cigar, crafted from carefully fermented and extensively aged tobaccos. It makes a favourable first impression: the Ecuadorian wrapper, a deep chocolate brown, has a matt, slightly satiny texture that is even and almost veinless. The presentation is immaculate, highlighted by two black and gold bands, complemented by a gold foot band, giving the cigar a luxurious and confident look.

Tasting notes

The first third opens with a spicy attack, dominated by a measured note of black pepper, quickly joined by aromas of creamy wood and dry earth. A subtle sweetness, at times reminiscent of cream or dried fruit, balances the whole. Light hints of dark chocolate and almond, along with a few floral and herbaceous notes, enrich the aromatic profile.

In the second third, the flavour profile gains depth and richness. Aromas of roasted coffee, nuts (particularly walnuts and almonds) and toasted wood develop and linger. The smoke becomes denser, creamier and more generous, whilst the strength remains moderate and perfectly controlled. The ash is light in colour, compact and very stable, reflecting the cigar’s excellent construction.

The final third brings the main flavour notes into sharper relief: strong coffee, earth, and dark chocolate with an elegant bitterness, accompanied by a more pronounced peppery note that adds power and depth. Depending on the batch, this increase in intensity may result in a slight bitterness reminiscent of black tea, making the finish drier and more pronounced, without, however, upsetting the overall balance.

Pairing

To accompany it, an aged rum or a non-peated single malt will complement its flavours perfectly, whilst a strong espresso makes for an equally suitable non-alcoholic alternative.
